Help with Emetophobia
This is how we get rid of your fear
against vomiting and nausea
Emetophobia severely limits the quality of life. Fear of nausea and vomiting is often met with incomprehension. The good news: my patients learn to overcome this anxiety disorder permanently with the Effmert® method. A very effective method for positively changing the thought system, with which I have been able to successfully help numerous patients in over 17,000 individual treatments and hypnosis sessions.

Important distinction
This behavior is often mistakenly interpreted as an eating disorder. However, it is usually a specific anxiety disorder.
Common behavioral patterns include:
Avoiding certain foods for fear that they might be bad.
Food consisting of only very small amounts
Constantly "listening" to the body in search of nausea.
Avoid situations where the child cannot escape quickly (school, outings, car rides).
Understanding fear
Emetophobia (fear of vomiting) often manifests itself in very individual ways in children.

Body symptom
What happens in the child's body
The child's body is in a constant state of alert when experiencing this fear. This tension often leads to real physical symptoms such as stomach aches or even actual nausea.
This reinforces the child's fear, creating a vicious cycle. Our goal is to gently break this cycle.
Eye movements (EMDR)
To process distressing memories (e.g., situations in which the child or others felt ill), we use targeted eye movements that support the brain in processing.
Trance and fantasy journeys
Through guided imaginations, I help the child to find inner safe places and experience relaxation on a deep level.
Tapping techniques
An easy-to-learn technique in which specific points on the body are gently tapped to quickly regulate acute stress reactions in everyday life.
Body awareness
We playfully work with thought patterns and learn to classify body signals (such as normal stomach rumbling) as harmless again.
Methods in working with children
Children need age-appropriate, playful approaches. I use various proven methods to calm the nervous system and process anxiety.

My approach
The therapy is designed for approximately 10 sessions and can take place flexibly in my practice or online. Close involvement of the parents is a key component.

The role of parents
Your support in everyday life is crucial for the success of the therapy. Together, we will develop strategies for how you can provide your child with security without unconsciously reinforcing avoidance behavior.
